From a young age, Donovan had one mission and that was to stay alive.
At birth, he was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and believed that his time on earth was much shorter than the rest of his peers. So much so that at the age of 13, he asked his mom if he should write a will. But he woke up one day and after he had received a double lung transplant and realized he was going to live.
This September he will celebrate 13 years post double lung transplant.
In this conversation, Donovan talks about what it was like to find meaning and purpose in his life after his surgery, talks about survivor’s guilt, and shares his passion for his work in addiction and counseling.
Donovan joins us from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
